DEGREE IN PSYCHO-PEDAGOGY
The Faculty of Education offers a Second Cycle Degree in Psycho-pedagogy.
These studies last two years and Complutense University students may register if
they have passed the first three-year studies in:
 Pedagogy
 Psychology
or the three courses in:
 Teacher Training
 Social Education
Students may choose between two specialisations: Special Education or
Guidance and Counselling.

Assessment Units or Departments in Schools at different levels:
Pre-schools, Primary Schools, Lower and Upper Secondary
Schools, Vocational Schools.
District interdisciplinary Teams giving technical and personal
support to schools.
Specific Teams and Schools for Blind, Deaf and Physically,
Mentally and Sensorial handicapped people.
Special Education centres helping pupils, teachers and families
in guidance and psycho-pedagogical aspects.
Adult schools with professionals entitled for diagnosis and
psycho-pedagogical guidance.
Organisations for exceptionally gifted people.
Community Institutions of local or regional Authorities,
developing Guidance and Vocational Programmes.
State and private Employment Bureaus, with Programmes
offered to help looking for jobs and entering the job market.
Organisations for social and work reintegration of disadvantaged
people.
Hospitals and Physiotherapy Services with professionals entitled
for diagnosis and psycho-pedagogical guidance.
Jails and Institutions for Minors, developing Guidance and

Discover the reality of education both formal and informal as for
structure, organisation and functioning.
Get in contact with the diversity of realities, institutions, levels
and group in personal situations.
Develop professional abilities and personal attitudes with help of
the professor-tutors.
Description and analysis of the School, Centre or Institution
context and of the people with psycho-pedagogical needs.
Description and analysis of the Institutional Chart and Didactic
units (concepts, procedures, attitudes).
Critical knowledge of the different aspects of the institution:
function, organisation and methodology; more concretely
referred to the Guidance Department.




Participation to the activities and attendance to the meetings
proposed in the curriculum of the Department of Guidance of the
Centre or the Guidance Team and the institutions collaborating
with the former.
Knowledge and implementation of technological resources and
information channels specific to Psycho-pedagogical Guidance
and Intervention in Special Education.
Analysis and valuation of psycho-pedagogical methods and
techniques of diagnosis and intervention in each particular case.
Teaching practice diary used as a base for understanding
learning and teaching processes in pupils with special education
needs.
SUPERVISION
Periodic supervisions by the Faculty of Education tutor and meetings
with the Institution tutor in order to carry out a good analysis of the
process.

Knowledge of formal and informal Education as for systems,
structures, organisation, functioning and institutionalisation.
Acquisition of professional competencies and personal attitudes
in agreement with deontological behaviour.
Analysis of the psycho-pedagogical needs of institutional
contexts, groups, directors/headmasters, teachers, families and
individuals.
Development of reflection about relations between Education
and Guidance.
Diagnosis and educational and work guidance, implementing
methodologies, tests, and specific instruments.
Written Project on Psycho-pedagogical intervention. Report of
activities
Periodic supervisions by the Faculty of Education tutor and meetings
