Well structured, clear and interesting This course as delivered to distant students this semester was almost totally lacking discussion and interaction with tutor and other participants. As this was the only unit I was following this semester I felt very isolated and in danger of becoming demotivated despite the excellent quality of the course notes This course is clearly labelled as resource-based learning (rather than the more interactive elearning some students expect after their previous studies). That said, this year, as a result of a prolonged period of critical ill-health for my father (requiring amongst other things almost daily hospital trips for seven weeks followed by intensive activity to establish home-based care for him), I was not as active as I usually I am and distance students clearly felt this. Next year, I will put in place the level of tutor online engagement that I did in previous years thereby, I hope, better meeting students’ expectations in this regard. The suggestion made by one student that a teaching assistant might be helpful is a good one as my overall portfolio of teaching, especially in semester 1 remains high.
