PSYCHOLOGY – PEDAGOGY – DIDACTICS UNIT
The main goal of our team of teacher trainers is to guide school teachers to become professionals through continuous education .
Objectives
1. Coordinating unitary activities regarding the design, content and methodology specific to teacher training, as they appear in the curriculum and analytical programmes, and during seminar and course activities.
2. Implementing modern educational solutions and supporting educational reform through direct transfer of information and expertise among academic staff and teachers in schools where pedagogical practice is carried on.
3. Teaching didactic activities to future teachers.
4. Organising activities for the psycho-pedagogical and methodological specialisation of school teachers; organising teacher in ordinary, 2 nd grade teacher, and 1 st grade teacher exams.
5. Promoting fundamental and applied scientific research through publications (research papers, courses, textbooks, guidebooks to pedagogical practice) research contracts, consultancy, and scientific symposia.
Study Programmes
1. Study programme for initial psycho-pedagogical and methodological training of the teachers (conceived for the undergraduates of BUASVM)
Starting with the academic year 2005-2006, the department organises the study programme to obtain a certificate issued by the Ministry of Education and Research. According to
Decision No. 2972/20.06.2006, the curriculum to obtain the certificate is structured into two modules:
MODULE I (30 credits ) to be held during academic years I-III/IV, finalised with an official record that allows temporary teaching activity until they pass the teacher in ordinary exam.
MODULE II (30 credits) to be held after graduation and before they pass the teacher in ordinary exam; it can be taken by MA students and by graduates who decide not to continue their studies. Module II is finalised with a certificate that replaces the record obtained after
Module I.
2. Post-graduate psycho-pedagogical programme for graduates who intend to practice teaching
We organize periodically, for the graduates who did not attend psycho-pedagogical and methodological courses, post-graduation studies provided they pay a fee approved by the
University Senate.
Graduates can teach in both schools and academic institutions, only if certified by The
Department of Teaching Staff Training and Social Sciences and Humanities, or if they attend psycho-pedagogical and methodological courses in their first three years of employment.
