ABS/MBS Quantitative Strategist (Trading Desk), PIMCO - Newport Beach

Position Summary
We seek a trading desk strategist experienced in developing proprietary trading tools and strategies. Preference is given to fixed income strategists who have worked on valuation of securities (cash bond and derivatives) backed by non-agency residential mortgages. Strong potential candidates in other products will be considered. The successful candidate will be familiar with the latest developments in empirical modeling including loan level prepayment, default, and loss severity analysis. The strategist is also expected to assist in the development of various back-testing and stress testing frameworks for a range of proprietary tools.
The strategist will have solid analytics skills and strong computing skills (i.e. distributed computing on Linux platform) and have excellent C++ programming skills. A working knowledge of
Linux/UNIX Shell Scripts and SQL, knowledge of Python integration with C++ is definitely a plus.
Our selected individual must be a team player, be self-motivated, and have excellent verbal communication skills. Experience in the Securities industry (Wall Street firm) strongly preferred.
Qualifications/Requirements
· Advanced degree in technical field (engineering, math/statistics, physics, economics)
· Programming skills in C++; familiarity with Python, R, Splus, SAS also useful.
· Designing, coding, and implementing computing platforms.
· Strong organizational, oral and written communications skills.
· High energy/self starter with the ability to work independently within the firm’s demanding and highly focused environment
