TIGER’S GAME: Our group made it to the ball game on Friday, despite circumstances beyond our control, and we
were not disappointed with the outcome. Our Tiger’s wowed us with a victory over the Baltimore Orioles, winning the
game 7 to 3. There were some of us lucky enough to have seats in row 11 – the hotdog give away row --and we were
treated to delicious hotdogs and a Tiger’s baseball cap. Everyone had a great time.
WISDOM OF PAUL: (WEALTH ISN’T EVERYTHING)
Well, religion does make a man very rich, if he is satisfied with what he has. What did we bring into the world?
Nothing! What can we take out of the world? Nothing! So then, if we have food and clothes, that should be enough
for us. But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and are caught in the trap of many foolish and harmful
desires, which pull men down to ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a source of all kinds of evil. Some
have been so eager to have it that they have wandered away from the faith and have broken their hearts with many
sorrows. (1 Timothy 6: 6-10)
But you, man of God, avoid all these things. Strive for righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and
gentleness … Command those who are rich in the things of life not to be proud, and to place their hope, not on such an
uncertain thing as riches, but on God, who generously gives us everything for us to enjoy. Command them to do good,
to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share with others. In this way they will store up for themselves a
treasure, which will be a solid foundation for the future. And they will be able to win the life which is true life.
(1 Timothy 6:11, 17-19)
