Gulf Coast School Boards Association Moss Point School District Minutes January 22, 2009 The Moss Point School District hosted the meeting of the Gulf Coast School Boards Association on Thursday, January 22, 2009, at Pelican Landing Convention Center, 6217 Hwy 613, Moss Point, Mississippi. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Mr. Kenneth Fountain, President of Gulf Coast School Board Association. Moss Point High School Navy JROTC presented the colors and led the pledge. The invocation was given by Rev. Michael Perry, First Baptist Church, Moss Point, Mississippi. Ms. Pamela Perkins, Moss Point School Board President, gave the welcome and introduced the guest speaker, Mr. James Young. A motion was made to amend the minutes from October 23, 2008 to correct the date of the January meeting from January 15, 2009 to January 22, 2009. There was a second to the motion and it was unanimously approved. A motion and a second was made to approve the financial report and it was unanimously approved. Mr. Kenneth Fountain asked for comments from the floor. Several board members and superintendents talked about the current progress and future plans for their respective districts. Presentations of door prizes were made by Moss Point School District. Jackson County School District won the attendance award. Ocean Springs School District will host the next meeting of the Gulf Coast School Boards Association on April 23, 2009. Motion was made, seconded and was unanimously approved to adjourn at 7:55 p.m.
