Dinwiddie County, Appomattox River Soil and Water Conservation District and the
Dinwiddie Extension Office will be hosting a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection day on
. This event will be held from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM in the Southern States Parking Lot, 1609 West Washington Street, Petersburg, VA. This
Collection is for Dinwiddie County and the City of Petersburg residents only. This collection is for Household Waste only, NOT Commercial or Industrial.
Acceptable items include: Paint, polishes & varnishes, Paint related materials,
Turpentine, Aerosol cans, Adhesives, Motor oil, Antifreeze, Fuel additives, Gasoline,
Batteries, Mercury, Pesticides, Electronics, Transmission fluid and Pool chemicals.
Items that will not be accepted include : Commercial/Industrial waste, 55 gallon drums of material, Tires, Radioactive Material, Medical Waste, Explosives, Ammunition or
Compressed Air Cylinders.
Please seal material in original container if possible and please label unmarked containers if contents are known. If you have questions on what is acceptable or for more information, please call the Dinwiddie Extension Office at 804-469-4514.
