JOB TITLE:
Family Support Liaison
QUALIFICATIONS:
 Hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree from an approved institution of higher education in
education, medical, social work, social sciences, human services or related field.

Training and/or experience in early childhood education or family support is desirable.
The individual must have proven experience in excellent written and oral communication,
computer skills, and collaboration.
SUMMARY OF JOB:
The Family Support Liaison will identify community resources for families; conduct oneon-one sessions to educate parents of newborns; and build an infrastructure for child
abuse prevention in the county. These activities shall include, but not be limited to the
following: create a community resource document; collaborate with community-based
service providers; educate families of newborns on resources and support systems; and
organize child abuse prevention awareness media campaign.
REPORTS TO:
Labette County Project STAR Grant Coordinator
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions:
1. Participate in the Labette County Family Coalition monthly meetings.
2. Coordinate Child Abuse Prevention Month media campaign.
3. Provide one-on-one sessions with parents of newborns on resources available.
4. Participate in evaluation and follow-up with participants of program services.
5. Develop and coordinate community resource and marketing materials for use in
providing training, technical assistance, support and information.
6. Possess knowledge of community resources within the county and how to access
them.
7. Document service for state monitoring and compliance.
8. Submit required reports to the Labette County Project STAR grant coordinator.
9. Support the philosophy, mission and policies of the employer.
10. Collaborate with physicians, schools, parents, and community service providers on
grant goals.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Carry out other duties as assigned by the Project STAR Grant Coordinator.
2. Attend training to promote professional growth in the field of child abuse prevention.
3. Assist the Labette County Project STAR Grant Coordinator in evaluation of program for
grant reporting purposes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. May require prolonged sitting at a desk, computer or while traveling.
2. May require occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
3. Requires valid and current drivers license.
TERMS of EMPLOYMENT:
The grant year is from November 1st through October 31st. when funding is available.
EVALUATION:
Evaluated by the employer and the Labette County Project STAR Grant Coordinator.
