SME Skills Upgrading Grant Increased To 70%
56 APPROVED PROGRAMMES
Effective 1 January 2012, the SME Skills Upgrading Grant will be increased from 50% to 70%.
The FMM Institute, Penang Branch is pleased to announce that we have been approved as an SME
Corporation Malaysia’s (SME Corp) Professional Training Provider (PTP) to organise 56 SME Skills
Upgrading programmes for the SMEs.
The SME Corp is funding 70% of the course fee. The balance of 30% is 100% claimable under the
SBL scheme from Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB).
Eligible SMEs can NOW engage FMM Institute Penang Branch to conduct the approved
programmes as their 2-day in-house training programmes for only RM285.00 per participant
with a minimum of 10 participants from the same participating company.
Similar programmes are also being organised under the Public (2 days) and Certificate categories.
Attached for your attention is the list of programmes.
Availability of the grant is based on first-come-first served basis.
Eligibility to SME Skills Upgrading Programmes includes the following:
1. Manufacturing sector (including agricultural-based industries) and manufacturing-related
services:
a. Annual sales value is not more than RM25 million OR with less than 150 full-time
employees.
b. Must possess the Manufacturing Licence as well as the Licence from the Local Council
2. Services sector (including ICT; excluding finance, banking and insurance)
a. Annual sales value is not more than RM5 million OR with less than 50 full-time employees.
b. Must possess the Business Licence OR letter of licence exemption from the Local Council to
confirm business is legal.
3. ONLY applicable to LOCAL full-time employees and contractual employees (minimum of one
year contract); and
4. SMEs must be registered under the Companies Act 1965 (Private Limited companies) OR
Registration of Business Act 1956 (Enterprise companies) with majority Malaysian shareholders
(minimum 60%).
Submission of documents to FMM Institute for the Skills Upgrading Grant:

(The form must be completed & duly signed strictly by the Managing Director or Chief
Executive Officer)

b) Local Government Licence
OR
3.
Services Sector
a) Business Licence
b) Letter of licence Exemption from LG

Latest KWSP Statement (issued by KWSP)
Form 49
Form 24
Form 9
Latest Bank Statement
All the above required documents must be certified as true copies on every page by the Company
Secretary or Accountant or Commissioner for Oath or individuals who are authorised by law to
certify the required documents.
