Dial-A-Book Administration Stanley R. Greenfield, President Stanley R. Greenfield spent most of his career with the Ziff-Davis Publishing Company. He served as senior vice president for many years. Dial-A-Book began as a project at Ziff-Davis in 1993, at his instigation. It was turned over to him when Ziff-Davis was sold in 1994. At Ziff-Davis he served as president of the Franklin Square Subscription, then the largest catalog subscription agency in the US. He acquired Information Access Company for Ziff-Davis and built the first on-line, X25, multi-magazine index and full text data bases. At the Nicholas Publishing Company which he founded, Stanley R. Greenfield created, edited and produced seven directories including two ALA "Outstanding Reference Book of the Year" designees. The first of these was the National Directory of Addresses and Telephone Numbers (first edition, Bantam Books, 1975). More than one million copies of its annual editions were sold. During the period 1975-1979, the Nicholas Publishing company was the sole representative of the People's Republic of China for the acquisition of all scientific and technical bibliographic materials from the United States, including: serials, monographs, indexing and abstracting services, patents, U.S. government documents, juridical materials and commercial data bases. This function was performed with the knowledge and consent of the Departments of State and Commerce. Mr. Greenfield served as president and publisher of Playbill, the Broadway theater magazine. He was founding publisher, The Corporate Board, The Journal of Corporate Governance. In 1982, at New York University, he inaugurated the first course on the information industry in the New York area. He holds a BA, in physics, from the Johns Hopkins University and an MBA, with distinction, from the Harvard Business School. Betty F. Greenfield, Managing Director Betty F. Greenfield is responsible for administration. Ms. Greenfield has held various positions with the State of New York, the National Civic League and with urban consulting firms. She served as Executive Director of Wave Hill, the New York City cultural institution. She holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University, a Masters Degree in Urban Planning from the School of Planning of City University and a BA from Wellesley College.
