There are no make-up Big Tests in this course; resitting for a Big Test will take place during the resit exam period. In order to get the signature at the end of the term, students must have got the cumulative average of at least 60% from the two Big Tests. If students have failed to get this result (i.e. if the final score falls below 60%), or if they have been absent from any of the scheduled Big Tests for any reason, they will take a resit Big Test during the resit exam period (in February for the winter term, and in June for the summer term; the dates and venues to be announced). The resit test will cover all the material presented in the course. Topic tests (‘small tests’) In addition to Big Tests, students will also be asked to write Topic Tests, which will be based on the exercises in the reading material and the handouts. There will be no retesting Topic Tests. Poor Topic Test results may lower the student’s final grade; good test results will be rewarded. Attendance Students are allowed three absences during each term. Any unexpected cases will be treated individually at my discretion.
