Young Adult Fellowship 4K for Cancer Job Description POSITION TITLE: 4K for Cancer Fellow REPORTS TO TITLE: Program Manager, 4K for Cancer LOCATION: UCF Baltimore Office STANDARD HOURS: 9 AM – 5 PM with occasional nights and weekends START DATE: September 1st, 2013 SUPERVISES: NA PURPOSE The UCF will offer opportunities to recent college graduates interested in making a profound impact in the young adult cancer fight and that also want to gain experience and training in the non-profit sector. Founded and led by young adults affected by cancer, the UCF Young Adult Fellowship Program is an initiative aimed at 1) empowering top recent college graduates to take active role in the young adult cancer fight through service and support and 2) exposing recent college graduates to the skills and experience necessary to pursue a career of service in the non-profit sector. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The UCF Fellowship Program will host Fellows for a year of service (10-month period) where he or she will be a contributing member of the UCF team while also to receiving professional development training in several nonprofit core competency areas. Professional development topic areas covered over the 10 month service year will include, but is not limited to: program development, program growth, fundraising, donor and advocate engagement, event management, marketing, volunteer recruitment and management, budgeting, public speaking, social media, program evaluation, branding and communications. Fellows will have the opportunity to play a leadership role in growing the 4K for Cancer program while also participating in a professional development days that prepare them for a career beyond the Fellowship Program. Fellows will play an integral role working with the 4K for Cancer program staff in planning, developing and executing the 4K for Cancer program. Fellows will also be considered for any open full-time employment position available at UCF towards the end of their period of service. POSITION/PROGRAM BENEFITS Full-time paid fellowship at UCF beginning at start date for a period of 10 months. Receive up to five professional development training days throughout year of service Program development work in UCF’s Awareness Through Sport Initiatives Earn a monthly stipend of $1,500 ($15,000 over 10 months) Receive full-time staff benefits Receive a post-service education award of $4,500 to be used for student loans or tuition for post-graduate education.
