LWV Giving Tuesday Social Media Toolkit The following sample tweets and Facebook statuses can (and should!) be tweaked to reflect the work of your League. For example, add relevant hashtags to tweets, including on your priority issues (for ex, #votingrights #education #climatechange) as well as your League’s location (for ex, #virginia #cleveland #charlotte). This helps target and ensure that people interested in your work and area see your tweets! Make sure that your messaging focuses on issues on which you work. And, of course, make sure to include the official #GivingTuesday hashtag in all of your posts! In general, every tweet and Facebook status should include a link. These links should showcase your work. They can be a blog post (including one you wrote about #GivingTuesday), a news article you were featured in, a press release, a recent newsletter item, your League’s donation page, etc. You can also share our #GivingTuesday images. (Included at the end of this document.) We’ve created draft content that pulls on much of the work Leagues across the country have accomplished this year, but to build a more compelling ask, provide specific examples of the work your League has accomplished in your community. Use local examples, photos from your events, etc. to show the impact your League has made this year. Promote your participation to build buzz. For example, we’ll be promoting our involvement on the Tuesdays leading up to #GivingTuesday. Incorporate the general tweets and Facebook posts into the promotions you’re doing on Tuesdays or in the lead-up to #GivingTuesday. Feel free to repeat them in the lead-up as well as on December 2. Now is the time to show off your work! You can also review the official #GivingTuesday social media toolkit as well as their Facebook guidelines. FACEBOOK Make sure all posts includes either a link to your League’s donation page or a link to a blog post, news article, recent newsletter item, etc, that makes the case for donations! You can also use our #GivingTuesday images at the end of this document.
