Continental Automotive Wuhu Makes Further
Investment to Meet Rapid Growth Needs
 Continental Automotive Wuhu, one of Continental’s 18 manufacturing plants in
China, expands its production capacity of Powertrain products
Wuhu, China, December 12, 2011. Continental Wuhu plant continues its growth strategy and
invests 10 million RMB to set up a new building in Wuhu, Anhui province, China. With local
government officials as well as the Continental management in attendance, Continental Wuhu
today celebrates the plant expansion of a new production facility. From end of December
onwards, the new facility will manufacture products of Business Unit Sensors & Actuators and
Business Unit Fuel Supply out of the Powertrain Division.
Mr. Jay Kunkel, Head of Continental China, said: “Already in operation for 15 years, Continental
Automotive Wuhu Co., Ltd. is one of the leading manufacturing plants in China. It has played a
significant role in helping us successfully establish ourselves in China. As part of our overproportional profitable growth plans in China, the expansion represents another important step,
emphasizing our confidence in the Chinese market.”
Continental Automotive Wuhu Co., Ltd. has been producing high quality products of innovative
technologies and has been contributing to the automotive industry in China in the past 15 years.
The original plant is around 27,000m2 and engages more than 2500 employees to support the
business in China and to serve local and global customers. To increase capacity to match its
robust development, Continental Wuhu plant invests further in a new building with a floor space
of around 1500 square meters. Currently, around 400 employees are working at the new plant.
In terms of production capacity, the new facility will achieve around 60% increase of actuator
covers, more than 10% increase of electronic throttle controls and about 30% increase of fuel
supply armatures. The products are destined for all vehicle segments and supplied locally as
well as globally.
