Guidance Notes for completing Walk Template
1.
Date of event. Please state day of week and date.
2.
Start time. Please state departure time. Walk leaders would be expected to be at
departure point at least 15 minutes in advance.
3.
Duration/Distance . Please estimate if walk is completed at relaxed pace.
4.
Title of event. Should reflect nature of walk
5.
Brief description/topography. This should reflect nature of walk with clear guidance
relating to suitability and terrain covered.
6.
Exact start and finish. As well as providing grid references if possible – please describe
other non-moveable landmarks.
7.
Parking .Fees if applicable. Time limits etc..
8.
Organiser. Name, email and mobile tel no of possible
9.
Public transport. Information to promote use of public transport wherever possible.
10. Grading and type ; Easy – suitable for most levels of fitness, no stiles and less than an
hour. Moderate- a moderate level of fitness required, up to 3 hours, with a few stiles .
Energetic – a good level of fitness required.
11. Accessibility. Terrain, including exact number of stiles, wheelchair/pushchair access.
12. Refreshment/Accommodation. Details relating to meals/refreshment stop en route or
access at end.
13. Toilets en route. Include information regarding access for disabled people.
14. Cost. Many walks will be free but this could include if any discounts given by
refreshments stops on way etc..
15. Extra interest/activity. Information on extra activities .
16. Event insurance. Details of your organisation’s insurance relating to public liability.
17. Risk assessment. Standard risk assessment form will be sent to walk leaders for
completion - following acceptance of the walk as part of the walking festival.
18. Back marker. All walks will require a walk leader and back marker. Please advise if you
require support to provide a back marker.
19. Maximum numbers. Please list the maximum number that you can safely manage on the
walk.
20. Booking details: It is envisaged that all free walks will be booked via the website. Fees for
chargeable walks will be administered by the organisation making a charge.
