Morning Circle: We will be singing our good morning greeting song, adding the day to our calendar, talk about our daily weather and complete attendance check-in, then we will read Ms. Ashlee’s story “Brown Reindeer,
Brown Reindeer” This story follows the tune of “brown bear, brown bear” but it uses all different types of holiday items. We will see a brown reindeer, a green tree, a red stocking, a yellow star, a blue soldier, a purple present and Santa Claus.

Monday: December 22, 2014 continued….
Small Group Circle Time: Today we are completing a short cooking activity to go along with winter and Christmas. Today we will be making bags of reindeer food to take home over the holiday and feed to Santa’s reindeer on Christmas Eve night. We will use oats and red and green sugar crystals.
We will also read the silly story “There was a cold lady who swallowed some snow” This story is about our favorite little old lady who swallows all sorts of strange holiday items, this time she will swallow a snow, coal, a hat, a stick, and a scarf ! We will have to wait until the end of our story to learn why she swallowed all of those things!

There are different sides to our dice now that tell us what we should do to move… (Melt like a Snowman, Twirl like a Snowflake, Prance like a
Reindeer, Roll like an Ornament, Give High-Five, Give a Hug) Each child will be given the opportunity to be a helper in the classroom by choosing a peer to go next for check-in after themselves.

Small Group Circle Time: We will be completing a short cooking activity to create reindeer cookies. We will use Nutter Butter cookies, small pretzel twists, dabs of icing and M&M’s. The children will push the pretzels into the filling of the cookie to make antlers, next we will place 3 dabs of icing to make eyes and a nose then the children will choose 2 colored eyes and a red or brown nose to push on top of the icing. YUMMY!
