Notes
Wind Erosion
deflation – erosion caused by wind as it wears away
sediments such as clay, silt, and sand.
(wind picks up loose sediments and carries them
away.)
abrasion – erosion caused when windblown or water born
sand grains strike other sand grains and rocks, and break off
fragments and carry them away.
(the force of striking breaks the rocks and carries them
away.)
loess – (deposition) thick deposit of very fine, wind-eroded
sediments.
(very tightly packed together.)
dune – (deposition) the formation of hills because
something has blocked the wind, forcing the sediments to
“drop off.”
