Application for Cluster Course Exemption/Credit Transfer
(For cases where there are no suitable substitute cluster courses
offered by the University)
1.
A student can, on application, be granted exemption/credit transfer if he or she has completed a course in
another tertiary institution that:
(i) carried the same relative weight in terms of credit in the degree programmes of that institution and
(ii) aligned with the goals and objectives of the core curriculum and fulfilled the intended learning
outcomes of the common core course or the cluster concerned.
2.
In case there is no suitable substitute cluster course offered by the University, a student may complete
this form and submit it to the CCGEO together with a detailed course syllabus for approval of the
Director/Associate Director of Core Curriculum and General Education.
3.
Students should note that applications are considered on a case-by-case basis. Approval given should not
be viewed as constituting a precedent. Students should give detailed justifications in support of the
applications.
4.
One application is good for exemption/credit transfer of one proposed core curriculum cluster course. For
Core Curriculum courses, course exemption/credit transfer shall be limited to two common core courses
and a maximum of 9 out of 21 credits of cluster courses.
