SELF-EVALUATION FORM
School No. ______________
Directions:
Log onto the Speech Accent Archive
(http://accent.gmu.edu/browse_language.php?function=detail&speakerid=145). Listen
to a standard version (such as American English) of “Please call Stella” first. Then
record and listen to your own version. Mark out the intonation, prominence, word
stress, reduced forms, blending, thought groups in your own script. Then listen to the
standard version and mark out these pronunciation features in the script as well. Next,
compare your own with the standard version carefully and mark out the differences.
You also need to notice the consonants and vowel differences you may have made.
Then fill out the following evaluation form. It is very important for you to consider
which “errors” you make may impede intelligibility so you need to improve, which
ones may not.
*You can download a copy of this evaluation form. Please hand in your evaluation
form and a copy of the script (with errors marked) via email to the teacher by April
15.
