Leroy A. Gilkey Memorial Scholarship Purpose: The Leroy A. Gilkey Memorial Scholarship was established to remember and honor Senor Gilkey by annually awarding a scholarship to a WNHS senior(s) that best epitomizes Leroy’s values and qualities. Please see attached statement to best understand Leroy’s life and the obstacles he faced in order to gain the education needed to fulfill his aspirations. Award: A one time $1500 award shall be given to the college, university or technical school of the recipient’s choice. This scholarship may also be applied to an international or study abroad experience. Criteria: A WNHS graduate with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Applicant is planning on pursuing higher education in an area related to World Language/Studies or will participate in a related travel experience. Completion of the Westerville North Local Scholarship Application. Submit a one page essay explaining why applicant’s personal qualities make you the best recipient of this scholarship. Essay may include financial need information. Submit one letter of reference from a WNHS teacher/staff member. Application Deadline: All application materials must be submitted to the Pupil Services Office at WNHS by the Local scholarship deadline. Selection Process: The Leroy A.
