Saint Hyacinth Academy Grades 5 - 8 Students at Saint Hyacinth Academy are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner so all students can receive maximum benefit from classroom instruction and discussions. They are to arrive in the classroom on time and be in their seats when the bell rings. There will be no talking after the bell rings, and they are expected to be ready to start class. They should have class books, wide-rule paper, lesson planner, and supplies at their desk everyday. They are to follow Class and School Rules. The students are to be respectful to everyone while on campus. Behavior Policy A Behavior Book will be kept in all grades. Any time a student receives an infraction his/her name will be marked by a staff member, whether it is in the classroom or not, who sees the infraction occur. The marks will be totaled up weekly for a grade. 0=A 3=B 6 = C1 = A4 = B7=D 2 = B+ 5 = C+ 8=F Students in extra curriculum activities must maintain at least a “B” for the week and end of trimester to participate. 3 marks per week will result in: a parent contact and detention for the student the next day from 3:15 – 4:00. If the 3 marks are the same infraction, a parent/student/teacher conference will be held and a one day detention will be given. 2nd set of 3 marks will result in: a conference with the student/parent/all teachers/ Administrator, detention for the student from 3:15 – 4:00, a warning for a behavior contract, and the loss of extra curricular activities. 3rd set of 3 marks will result in a conference with the parent/all teachers/Administrator to develop a behavior contract. * Some behaviors may result in immediate action. If the student is not picked up at 4:00, the student will go to ES and be billed from 3:15. I have read and understand the Behavior Policy. I intend to honor these rules. Student: ____________________________________________ Parent/Guardian: _____________________________________ Date: ______________________________________________ Saint Hyacinth Academy Grades 5 - 8 Homework Policy When a student does not turn in an assignment on the day it is due, the following consequence will happen per subject per trimester. 1st missing assignment will result in a teacher/student conference. 2nd missing assignment will result in teacher contacting the parent allowing the student to turn in the assignment the next day for ½ credit. 3rd missing assignment will result in a student/parent/teacher conference and the student will get detention the next day. 4th missing assignment will result in a student/parent/teacher conference with all teachers, and a Homework Intervention Plan will be created. If the student is not picked up at 4:00, the student will go to ES and be billed from 3:15. If you know your child will miss school, please contact the teacher for assignments. If you call before 10:30 a.m. on the day of your child’s absence, every effort to have the assignments ready after 2:30 p.m. for pick up will be made. If you know your child will be absent for an extended period of time, you must contact the office and the teachers, in writing, one week or more in advance for assignments. All work given in advance is due the day the student returns. Be aware, however, that he/she will probably have additional assignments to make up upon returning which will be due within one week. All tests missed must be scheduled with the teacher. I have read and understand the Homework Policy. I intend to honor these rules. Two-thirds goal: If a student does not meet his/her two-thirds point goal in a trimester, the student will not be able to participate in any extracurricular activities until the twothirds goal has been met. Final trimester goal: If a student does not meet his/her final trimester goal, the student may not participate in any extracurricular activities during the third trimester. 1st and 2nd trimesters: If a student does not meet his/her 1st and 2nd trimester point goals, the student may not participate in any extracurricular activities for the 3rd trimester. Classroom novels: Any books read as a class may not count toward a student’s trimester AR point goal.
