In contrast to hurricanes and tropical weather systems, the
Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office understands that it is unable to
have “advance” time in responding to severe weather in the form of
thunderstorms, tornadoes, flooding, blizzard and other weather
related phenomena. To properly prepare for such situations, the
Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office realizes that it can only provide
employees with a skeleton form of response. Although severe
weather has the potential of becoming catastrophic, the Lafourche
Parish Sheriff’s Office shall respond to severe weather situations in
a manner which, if the situation is contained to a specific area, that
normal operations can exist while providing a response to the severe
weather.

The two types of responses shall be a planned event or a responsive
plan such as a severe weather event.
