APPLICATION TO VISIT AUSTRALIA ON A TEMPORARY BASIS FOR TOURISM OR
BUSINESS PURPOSES
The Visitor visa (subclass 600) is for people who want to travel Australia as tourists, for business or to visit family. It is a
temporary visa.
Belgrade post processes the following streams:
•Tourist stream: for people travelling to Australia for a holiday, recreation or to visit family and friends. If you apply for
this visa in Australia, you must be in Australia when the visa is decided. If you apply for this visa outside Australia, you
must be outside Australia when the visa is decided.
•Business Visitor stream: for business people travelling to Australia for a short business visit. This includes going to a
conference, negotiation or meeting. You must be outside Australia when you apply and when the visa is decided.
Lodging your application
Please note that access to the Australian Embassy Belgrade is by appointment only.
If you intend to lodge a Tourist (Subclass 600) visa application at the Australian Embassy Belgrade, please call +381 11
33 03 400 between 9.00 am and 11.00 am, Monday to Friday to make an appointment.

The departmental service standard is to have 75% of Tourist visa applications finalised within one month. However, the
actual processing time for an individual application can be shorter or longer than this, depending on the specific
circumstances of the case.
Please note that if all required documents are not provided at the time of lodgement, this can extend the processing time
of your application.
To lodge a visa application, you will need to:




complete application (link below);
pay the relevant Visa Application Charge (details below);
provide documentation from the Document Checklist (see below); and
complete a Visa Questionnaire (see below).

PAYMENT OF A VISITOR VISA APPLICATION CHARGE
Should you decide to lodge an application for tourist visa, the visa application charge is
the equivalent of 115 Australian dollars in Euros (95 EUR), as at 1 January 2013.
The Australian Embassy in Belgrade can only accept cash payments in Euros and credit cards payment in AUD.
Payments using credit cards are processed in Australian Dollars (AUD) only (MasterCard, Visa, AMEX, Diners, and JCB). Note: If
paying by credit card in Australian Dollars you may incur banking and currency conversion fees and you accept the risk associated
with any currency fluctuations.
Alternatively, payment may be made in Australian Dollars at Department of Immigration and Citizenship offices in Australia by
friends or family members of clients applying in Belgrade. The original receipt must then be sent to the Australian Embassy in
Belgrade with the application.
Clients in Serbia
Payment can only be made in cash (Euros only) at the Australian Embassy in Belgrade or by credit cards in Australian Dollars
(AUD) as per the above information.
Clients in Albania
Bank transfer at any bank or by credit cards in Australian Dollars (AUD) as per the above information.

Application document checklist
You must provide documents to support your application for this visa. The department can make a decision using the
information you provide when you lodge your application. It is in your interest to provide as much information as possible
with your application.
You must provide certified copies of original documents. Do not include original documents unless specifically requested
by the department. Documents not in English must be accompanied by accredited English translations.
Use this checklist to make sure your application is complete.
Visa application requirements differ from country to country. If you are applying outside Australia, your nearest
immigration office outside Australia will tell you exactly how to submit your application and what documents to provide.
To apply for the Approved Destination stream: Contact your travel agent. Your travel agent prepares your documents
and lodges your application for you. If you apply for this visa with an approved travel agent for a tour that is part of the
Approved Destination Status scheme in China, your approved travel agent will lodge the application form for you.

Your identity




Certified copies of the biographical pages of the current passports or travel documents of all people included in
the application.
One recent passport sized photograph (45 mm x 35 mm) of each person included in the application.

These photographs should be of the head and shoulders only against a plain background

Print the name of the person on the back of each photograph.
If your name has changed or the name of anyone included in your application has changed: a certified copy of
evidence of the name change.
Certified copies of birth certificates for you and any other person included in the application. The certificates
must show the names of both parents of everyone included in the application.
Documents to show you are a genuine visitor


Evidence of sufficient funds, such as personal bank statements, pay slips, audited accounts, taxation records or
credit card limit.
If you are visiting relatives or friends, a letter of invitation from your relative or friend in Australia. If your relative
or friend is paying for your visit, evidence that they have the necessary funds.

If you are visiting under the Tourist stream: Your itinerary for your stay in Australia.

Other information to show that you have an incentive and authority to return to your home country, such as:





a letter from your employer stating your intention to return to your job
evidence of enrolment at a school, college or university in your home country
evidence of immediate family members in your home country
evidence of your visa or residence status in your home country, and your right to return
evidence of property or other significant assets owned in your home country.
Children younger than 18 years of age

If you are younger than 18 years of age: evidence that every person with a legal right to decide where you live
consents to your travel to Australia on this visa. If you will not have one or both parents come with you, provide:


a statutory declaration giving their permission
Form 1229 Consent form to grant an Australian visa to a child under the age of 18 years (125 kB PDF).
If you use this form, you will have to attach a certified copy of your parent’s or guardian’s governmentissued identification document (such as a passport or driver’s licence) with their photograph and their
signature.

If you are younger than 18 years of age and you will stay in Australia with someone other than a parent, legal
guardian or relative: a declaration signed by the person who will be responsible for you in Australia



Evidence of why you need to visit Australia on business, such as:

a letter of invitation from the host organisation in Australia
conference registration details
a letter from your employer stating the reasons for your visit
your itinerary, with contact details of the business parties involved.

Your educational or professional qualifications.

Your current employment and your role during your visit to Australia.

Details of previous contacts with Australian businesspeople or organisations in Australia.

Documents to show that the company you work for is an actively operating business, such as a business
registration certificate or annual report.
Health


If you are 75 years of age or over you will be required to undergo a medical examination to determine your fitness to
travel. You will be advised of how and where this examination is to be done once your application has been assessed.
