ARTEFACTS Road Show Branxton Village Hall Saturday 29th January 12:30-17:00 Do you have treasure in your attic, flints on your mantle piece or cannon balls in your garden? Many people do, so if you have found artefacts while out walking in the fields, inherited them, or simply found them left by the previous owner of your house we would like to hear from you. While we are particularly interested in any objects that might relate to the Battle of Flodden, we will also be identifying and recording artefacts of all periods from Prehistory to the modern day. If you have found something and want to know more about it bring it along and show it to the experts. Small or large, already identified or not, everything is of interest and could help us in our understanding of the archaeological activity of the north of Northumberland, the Scottish Borders and particularly of the Battle of Flodden. Come along to Branxton Village Hall on the afternoon of the 29th of January (12:30-17:00) where experts, including Rob Collins (Portable Antiquities Scheme) Rob Young (English Heritage) Jenny Vaughan (Northern Counties Archaeological Service) and Christopher Burgess (County Archaeologist and Project Director of Flodden 500 Archaeology) will be available to identify your archaeological objects, explain their origins and what they were used for. Artefacts found around Flodden and Branxton during the archaeological work of the last 2 years will also be on display for those who are interested and would like to know what to look out for on future walks around the area or on trips into the attic. Our experts may wish to record details of an object's discovery and to take photographs, but WILL NOT ask you to leave them with us.
