Journal Entry Topics Directions: All journal entries are to be completed in your Math Journal!!! Not your math notebook!! For each journal you should have the journal number and topic written at the top of the journal entry. All journal entries are to be in COMPLETE SENTENCES!! Journal 1. Topic: The Math Curse List 5 examples of when you use math during your everyday life. Then write a paragraph explaining what your goals for math are this year Journal 2 Topic: List three examples of variables and three examples of constants from your everyday life. Example: Constant = your eye color. (It doesn’t change) Variable = the clothes you wear (It changes) Journal 3 Topic: Integers Write a short story about one of the following: A football team that is gaining and losing yards. A submarine rising and dropping in the water The rising and falling of stock. Your story should include examples of adding and subtracting integers. This is the only way that you will receive full credit. Journal 4: Topic: Equations Explain how an equation is like a balance. Then describe what it would mean if the equation is not balanced. Journal 5: Topic: Solving 2-Step Equations Imagine that your friend is having a difficult time solving two-step equations. Write them a letter explaining to them how to solve the equations. Give them as many details as you can think of to be sure that they master how to solve two-step equations. Journal 6: Topic: Classifying Polygons Find and Identify 5 different angles in the classroom, and then classify the angles as acute, right, or obtuse. Journal 7 Topic: The Cartesian Coordinate System (2/3 Period Class only) Give 3 Examples of ways the coordinate system is used today. Then explain how to plot the point (2, -3). Journal 8: Chapter 8 Introduction Look through Chapter 8 in your textbook. Create a list of the following in regards to the information you just looked over: 3 things you already know, Three things you somewhat know, and 3 things you want to learn. Then list 2 or more questions that you have about the information in this Chapter.
