East Huntspill Primary School New Road, East Huntspill, Highbridge, Somerset, TA9 3PT Telephone: 01278 782453 Autumn Term – Number 6 Week beginning Monday 5th October 2015 HARVEST SERVICE Our harvest service this year will be on Wednesday 7th October, 2.15pm at All Saints Church in East Huntspill. Parents are welcome to come along to hear the children sing beautifully & make us all think about the importance of the food we eat. At harvest time we try to get the children to think about how lucky we all are to have enough to eat & to remember that there are others who are not so lucky & therefore will go hungry. This term we would like to support the Highbridge Area Foodbank by collecting donations for them. The Highbridge Area Foodbank is part of ‘The Trussel Trust’ & works in partnership with local churches & organisations to bring foodbanks to communities across the UK. The Highbridge Area foodbank rely on food donations to feed local people in crisis. From pasta to puddings, please give in-date nonperishable food. So if you would like to help us support this wonderful organisation then please send in your donations (see the shopping list) tomorrow. Many thanks in anticipation of your support with this. For more information about the Highbridge Area Foodbank please check the website – http://highbridgearea.foodbank.org.uk PARKING I would like to remind parents of the importance of not parking on the yellow zigzags outside school. I would like to thank parents in anticipation of their support in keeping all our children safe. CHILDREN’S FLU VACCINE In the autumn/winter of 2015/16 the annual nasal spray flu vaccine will be available for children aged two, three & four years old plus children in school Y1 & Y2 as part of the NHS childhood vaccination programme. If your child is in Y1 or Y2 you will have received a letter directly from the NHS about this & if you would like your child to be vaccinated then you must return the permission slip to school. Over time, as the programme rolls out, potentially all children between the ages of two & sixteen will be offered vaccination against flu each year with the nasal spray. The flu vaccine for children is given as a single dose of nasal spray squirted up each nostril. Not only is it needle-free (a big advantage for children), the nasal spray works even better than the injected flu vaccine. It’s quick & painless & will mean your child is less likely to become ill if they come into contact with the flu virus.
