Springer eBook Collections consist of monographs, Book series, Major Reference Works (MRWs) and Textbooks. Springer is the largest STM book publisher, publishing more books annually than the second, third, fourth and fifth largest STM book publishers combined. In 2009, Springer projects an output of 3,370 eBooks across 13 Subject Collections. Some other distinguishing features of the Springer eBook Collections include: Full Ownership Model: Springer offers its eBook Collections on a full-ownership model with no maintenance or administrative fees; once a library purchases an ebook collection, that content will be accessible in perpetuity. No Digital Rights Management: Springer’s digital rights management policy is the most liberal in the industry. This policy permits eBook printing, emailing, and non-systematic downloading. Libraries also have digital ILL rights and may include Springer eBook content in course packs. Unlimited Usage: Unlike many other eBook offerings, Springer does not in any way restrict usage—there are no limits on the number of concurrent users, nor limits on the number of views for a given eBook or chapter. Integrated Content – All Springer eBooks are made available alongside all other Springer content on www.springerlink.com. Patrons searching SpringerLINK will get relevant results that include eBook chapters, journal articles and protocols. Seamless eBook Management/Library Integration: Springer offers free “COUNTER Book Report 2” usage statistics for all eBooks. Springer also provides free MARC records as well as OCLC enhanced MARC records for a minimal fee. Local Hosting: Content delivery service is available on Springer eBook content for loading on a library’s local server. Printed Copies of Books: Each library may set up a button labeled "MY copy”. This button allows patrons to request a print copy of an item. Limited to books 852 pages or less. Cost is $24.95, including shipping and handling.
