 Earth rotating on its axis gives us night and day; therefore, it takes Earth 24 hours to
rotate once on its axis.
 Revolve – when one object moves around another object.
 It takes the Earth 365 ¼ days to make one revolution around the Sun.
 Earth has 4 Seasons because its axis is tilted.
 As Earth revolves, the part of Earth tilted toward the Sun changes, thus giving us our
seasons.
 During Summer in the Northern Hemisphere, the North Pole tilts towards the Sun.
 During Winter in the Northern Hemisphere, the North Pole tilts away from the Sun.
 Earth revolves counterclockwise around the Sun – So, the seasons go in a
counterclockwise direction from Winter Spring  Summer  Fall
 In the Southern Hemisphere, the seasons are opposite from the Northern
Hemisphere (Texas)
