I was very glad to hear from first. First, because I have planned to write to you. I found your
website www.croatia-in-english.com and so many postings on several message boards. And I saw
that you allways have a helping hand.
I used the given names of my anchestors, because that are the names in the church records. I
thought it could be confusing to write slovenian/english names.
I do not know where my GGF Carolus Metlika-Vidoni was born. I only have a document of him and
all his children. There is no indication about the name of his father. There is only the name of his
mother Joanna Metlika. I have no information if she has brothers and sinsters. Also no information
about the practice you call domazet.
By the way: what did you mean with: "FYI data plural datum is singular."
The children (as it is written in the church records) of my GGF Carolus Metlika-Vidoni are:
1) Carolus Metlika Vidoni, born 24.4.1874 in Klanec: his father (my GGF) has signed personally
with Carlo Metlika Vidoni with 2 witnesses. Can you tell me what pric`´a potpisan means?
2) Josepha Metlika, born 24.10.1875 in Klanec: father' s name: Carolus Metlika.
3) Antonius Metlika, born 21.1.1877 in Klanec: father' s name: Carolus Metlika. Antonius Metlika is
my great grandfather. He died in Jajce as Anton Vidoni.
4) Josephus Metlika, born 24.4.1879 in Klanec: father' s name: Carolus Metlika.
5) Andreas Metlika, born 15.12.1880 in Klanec: father' s name: Carolus Metlika.
6) Franciscus Metlika, born 13.1.1883 in Klanec: father' s name: Carolus Metlika.
7) Maria Metlika, born 5.1.1885 in Klanec: father' s name: Carolus Metlika. I got a duplicate of the
parish register. According to this duplicate the father's name is Carolus Metlika/Vidoni.
8) Stephanus Vidoni, born 20.12.1886 in Klanec: father' s name: Carolus Vidoni.
9) Joanes Vidoni, born 16.1.1890 in Klanec: father' s name: Carolus Metlika Vidoni. The word
Metlika is crossed out!
I wrote in my first posting that my GGF Carolus Metlika Vidoni had a halfbrother called Josephus
Vidoni. He was born 1.3.1861 in Klanec and died 1936 in Biograd na moru. On 14.2.1885 in Klanec
he was married to Maria Mihalic´. And my GGF was witness to this marriage. He signed with Carlo
Metlika!
What I need are the church records of Jajce, Donji Vakuf, Doboj, Biograd na moru. Do you have
any contacts to the churches there?
