Cross-Canada Ecozone Road Trip Name:____________________ November ______ 2015 DUE: _____________________ Canadian Geography Introduction “One Week” is a movie about a 20-something Torontonian who, when confronted with his mortality, impulsively buys a vintage motorcycle and sets off on a road trip across Canada. Based on what you have learned since September, create your own trip across Canada. You can start anywhere and end up anywhere, as long as you cover at least 6 different ecozones. Tasks 1. Create a Trip Booklet with a travel itinerary that details the stops you make on a trip across Canada. The booklet will include a title page, the ecozone map, 6 cross-Canada templates, 6 journal entries and research tracking sheets. 2. Using the blank Ecozone Map provided, draw your route and shade in the ecozones you visit. 3. Identify one major urban center in each ecozone you visit on your map. 4. Fill in a Cross-Canada Template for each place that you visit. 5. For each ecozone, provide at least 3 visuals or illustrations that represent your destination. This can include vegetation, landforms, and human activities (Mountain climbing, skiing, dogsledding, whale-watching, river-rafting, etc). 6. In Journal format (first person narrative), describe what you are seeing in each ecozone: weather, landscape, vegetation and what you did during your visit. 7. Your trip should be realistic, in the sense that someone could actually follow the suggested travel route and sightseeing locations. You are to plan a stop in 6 of the 15 ecozones. You need to visit at least: 2 National Parks* 1 of Canada’s 6 largest cities 1 of Canada’s Territories * The list of National Parks can be found at http://www.pc.gc.ca/progs/np-pn/recherche-search_e.asp?p=1 Your booklet should include a title page, map of your route, journal entries and illustrations (photos, sketches, paintings, etc.) of places visited. Use the Cross-Canada Template below to record the following information about each of the six places you visit. Trip Day No. ____ Location: Ecozone Landform Region Population of ecozone Climate Region: Primary Employment of Region: Temp. range Precipitation (mm) range: Vegetation Region Method of Travel and Distance to the next destination: Working Periods You will have two class periods on the computers in the library as well as one period in the classroom to work on this project.
