Canada Ecozone Amazing Race
Name:____________________

Canadian Geography
Introduction
The Amazing Race Canada is a reality television competition series that features teams in a grueling race
across Canada. Based on what you have learned since September, create your own race across Canada.
You can start anywhere and end up anywhere, as long as you visit at least 6 different ecozones.
Your trip should be realistic, in the sense that someone could actually follow the suggested travel route
and sightseeing locations. You are to plan a stop in 6 of the 15 ecozones. You need to visit at least:

1 of Canada’s 6 largest cities

1 of Canada’s Territories

2 National Parks*
* The list of National Parks can be found at http://www.pc.gc.ca/progs/np-pn/recherche-search_e.asp?p=1
Tasks
Create a Trip Booklet with a travel itinerary that details the stops you make on a trip across Canada. The
booklet will include a title page, the ecozone map, 6 cross-Canada templates, and 6 journal entries.
1. Using the blank Ecozone Map provided, draw your route. Label and shade in the 6 ecozones you visit.
Identify one major urban center in each ecozone on your route.
2. Fill in a Canada Ecozone Template for each place that you visit.
3. Provide at least 3 visuals or illustrations that represent each destination. They can be photos, sketches
and paintings. Include visuals of vegetation, landforms, and human activities. Cite the website from
which you copied each visual.
4. In Journal format (first person narrative), describe what you are seeing in each destination: weather,
landscape, vegetation and the built environment. Chose one season for your travels and explain what
you did during your visit (mountain climbing, skiing, dog-sledding, whale-watching, river-rafting, fishing,
etc.)
5. Design a title page.
Your booklet should include a title page, the map of your route,6 ecozone templates, 6 race journal
entries and illustrations of places visited. Use the Canada Ecozone Template below to record the following
information about each of the six places you visit.
