Explore the role of relationship based care in mitigating toxic stress. Dec. 15, 2015 Tuesday 1:00-4:00 p.m. Reducing Challenging Behavior by Clarifying Expectations, Rules, and Routines (3 contact hours in social emotional development) Sonja Hecker, Certified Pyramid Plus Trainer Training Description This make-and-take workshop includes a presentation with embedded video and several useful resources such as engaging activities and colorful handouts. Your participants will learn the importance of using visuals to teach, the difference between program-wide expectations and classroom rules, the importance of teaching expectations to children in a manner that is developmentally appropriate, and strategies and techniques to teach clear expectations. Jan. 19, 2016 Tuesday 1:00-4:00 p.m. Thoughtful Transitions: Reduce Traffic Jams and Challenges (3 contact hours in social emotional development) Sonja Hecker, Certified Pyramid Plus Trainer Training Description This make-and-take workshop provides teachers with tools and strategies to use when teaching children how to transition between activities and places within the early childhood environment. The workshop includes all presentation materials, embedded videos, handouts, and colorful patterns for activities and props. Participants will learn about tools to reduce challenges with transitions, strategies to assist in actively engaging children during transitions, and individualized transition strategies for children in need of additional supports. Mar. 22, 2016 Tuesday 1:00-4:00 p.m. Community Model Framework: Monitoring Development of Young Children in a Coordinated System of Care (3 contact hours in child development) Sara McVaugh, Certified ASQ & EQIT Trainer & Coach Training Description This three- hour training will outline the process for monitoring development in young children in an early childhood center or home. How to support developmental needs of young children, communicate with parents about developmental milestones and encourage developmental screening.
