Short description
The main idea behind the ,, Polish music in the Zulawy Region”
of the project
Festival is the presentation of the places associated with the Gothic Tourist
Trail of churches in the Zulawy region in a form of a dialogue with Polish
music, created mainly in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The
program of the festival concerts will include works created by prominent
Polish composers.
Also eminent artists have accepted the invitation to
participate in this event. ,, Polish music in the Zulawy Region” Festival
is a special kind of tour of the Elblag Chamber Orchestra which will present
the public with treasures of Polish music inspired by native folklore in
historic interiors of churches. The program of the festival concerts will
include outstanding works of Polish composers like: Mieczyslaw Karłowicz,
Witold
Lutoslawski,
Wojciech
Kilar,
Andrzej
Panufnik,
Romuald
Twardowski, Krzysztof Penderecki, H. M. Gorecki and a representative of the
newest music of Peter Moss. Each edition of the Festival will also host
a guest in the form of music composed by outstanding composers. The music
will present works from the outside of the Polish repertoire. The effect of the
festival is popularization of the less-known places of Zulawy region and the
promotion of Polish contemporary music. The Festival poses a cyclic
proposal of contact with Polish music addressed both to the inhabitants of the
entire Zulawy region and tourists. The festival will bring Zulawy residents
closer to the interesting and rich history of the region in conjunction with a
presentation of the great masters of composition. The project shall be carried
out as a continuation of occasional concerts of the Elblag chamber Orchestra
has held since 2011 in small towns located in the immediate vicinity of
Elblag. The project attracted a lot of interest of local communities, cultural
centers and authorities. Zulawy have a number of features that set it against
the background of the country: building regional ( arcaded houses , Dutch
homesteads , windmills , churches and ruins of Gothic), equipment and
hydraulic structures (Vistula embankments, sluices, canals, drawbridges),
mennonite culture and heritage (cemeteries). Community of the region
frequently suffers from limited access to the cultural offer, due to difficult
economic situation, living conditions and the remoteness from large centers of
culture. The ECO will approach
the inhabitants of the region, through
concerts organized in their places of residence. taking into account the
specificities of media for different age groups. Concerts will be open to the
public. The target group are children, young people, local environments, and
the people of the entire Zulawy region, individual tourists and organized
groups of tourists.
