Fine Arts Instructor Georgetta Marie Gancarz Fine Arts Instructor Georgetta Marie Gancarz Georgetta graduated from The School of Visual Arts and Fordham University with degrees in Art and Science. She also minored in Art Therapy and received various teacher credits, honorary art, president, staff awards and scholarships. Georgetta has been teaching painting for 20 years and is a painter ordainted in the guild of St. Luke. Working on her charity Artist For Breast Cancer Charity, she continues to educate the public on awareness and prevention. She currently teaches art at Seattle Central and North Community College as well as Florence, Italy. Her work has been exhibited worldwide and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In Seattle she is locally represented by the gallery Art/Not Terminal and is on the Executive Committee Board at the EC University of Washington; Her picture is on the cover of Alberto Manguel's 2002 International best seller, "Reading Pictures What We Think About When We Look At Art". Her works are on file at The Women Museum of Arts, Washington, DC; Renaissance works are in collection of Saint James Cathedral, Seattle, other collections are at the Muse Foundation Museum Collection in NYC as well as Basilicas throughout Europe. Working directly from the model, memory or imagination, students will be encouraged to explore color, form, space, composition and technique as a source of personal expression. There will be individual feedback and instruction to assist students in their vision. Acrylic, oil paint and other media will be explored. Painting For Everyone Intermediate Level Instructor Georgetta Marie Gancarz Designed for the intermediate student, this course will explore the techniques of palette knife painting, scumbling, glazing and washes. We will also use varnish, wood, wax, fabric and collage materials. All mediums are welcome. Students will learn how to frame their artwork and exhibit in a local gallery. Encaustic Wax Painting Instructor Georgetta Marie Gancarz Have you ever wondered how an artist used wax to paint? Have you ever wanted to try a new medium? Well, this class is for you. We cover how to use wax to achieve a realistic or non-conventional finished painting. Collage, pen and ink, stamps, fabric, paper, canvas all mixed mediums are welcome! Come and create something new. First class will be a materials session. How To Make The Paint Work For You Instructor Georgetta Marie Gancarz Beginning to paint can be so much fun! But learning how to mix your colors makes the process easier. This class is for students that want to learn how to mix colors comfortably step by step. For students wanting to make that transition from painting what you see to actually putting it on the canvas the way you want. We will complete a painting combining all the techniques (gradations, shading, warm and cool colors, washes, glazes and textures) we learned in class. Transparent Art Instructor Georgetta Marie Gancarz In this class we will explore the art of transparency by using mixed media, collages and washes. Activities will involve painting with multi layered washes, using acrylics, watercolors, wax, paper, plastic, fabric, molding paste, photographs…etc. We will work with colors exploring various hues, shapes, forms, sizes, and mediums. Students will also learn about different brushes, and the layering color effect. We will also view and study methods of Paul Klee and other modern artist. Freedom of expression is taught and encouraged. Class will end with a museum trip. Using various indoor and outdoor locations as our classroom students will sharpen their vision and perception by studying nature and the human figure. They will work to create unity through architectural organization of space and light and develop realistic rendering of one, two and three point perspectives in detail, using wet and dry brush, loose washes and the drawing process. Short and longer gesture exercises explore methods for achieving a likeness of the subject its contour, value, color, design, composition and texture.
