IASLT/AOTI Ethics Workshop 2013 ETHICS WORKSHOP for Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists. ADVERTISEMENT With a view to approaching statutory registration later this year attendance at an Ethics training workshop is crucial for therapists of all levels. It will significantly enhance therapists understanding of what it means to be ethically compliant. It will help therapists to be continuously mindful of the importance of professional ethics and to avoid ethical conflicts. Course Title; Ethics (One day programme). The workshop will be delivered by The Trinity Interdisciplinary Group which is a team of academics and practitioners drawn from occupational therapy and clinical speech and language therapy. Who can apply? This course is being organised jointly by IASLT and AOTI. Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists at any grade/place of work/employment status may apply. It is open to members and non-members of IASLT/AOTI for a fee. Course Introduction Attendance at this workshop will enable participants to have an understanding of ethical procedures including capacity for decision making, informed consent, informed refusal, as well as having a framework for dealing with ethical problems in a systematic manner. The course is made up of modules that have inter-related components which are shaped the principles of ethics, capacity and consent, and an action oriented goal of examining ethical dilemmas. The course is designed in such a way to enable course participants who may have had limited or no education in ethics, but who may have experience of ethical dilemmas to make sense of those dilemmas and to have a framework for dealing with them on completion of the course.
