Aga Khan Education Service, Kenya www.agakhanschools.org/kenya VACANCY: HEAD OF SENIOR SCHOOL - THE AGA KHAN ACADEMY, NAIROBI, Established in 1970, the Aga Khan Academy Nairobi is a private, co-educational school located on a five-acre plot with extensive facilities in the Parklands suburb of Nairobi, Kenya. The Academy offers the International Baccalaureate Curriculum at Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma level, as well as the IGCSE at Grades 10 and 11, and has an enrolment of 700 students. The Aga Khan Academy Nairobi is operated by the Aga Khan Education Service Kenya, a non-profit organization that operates 11 schools. RESPONSIBILITIES The Head of Senior School of the Aga Khan Academy Nairobi will provide overall leadership and management for the senior school. The Head of School will be will be responsible and held accountable for the academic and financial performance of the school. S/he will be responsible for developing the school into a School of Choice in Nairobi, improving the positioning of the school in the market by enhancing its academic, co-curricular, sports and leadership programmes as well as developing a school culture that emphasizes ethics and values, pluralism and excellence. The Head of School will oversee and drive: - Curriculum delivery and implementation - Implementation of the MYP curriculum - Examination results in ACER, IGCSE and IB Diploma programme - Appraisal, Evaluation and professional development of staff - Career counseling and university admissions - Pastoral care and support - Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities - Parental and community relations - Efficient and effective management of school finance, facilities and other operations. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Applicants should have the following qualifications and experience: At least five years experience, with demonstrable achievements, as Principal of a Grade 6-12 reputable international school. Experience with the International Baccalaureate curriculum is a requirement. A Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, or in Educational Administration from a reputable, accredited university. Excellent team-building skills, with proven experience in leading, motivating and empowering Ability to work in an organization with central management functions and a Board of Directors Experience in a developing country. Experience in Africa is desirable.
