Volunteer Resources for Doctoral Internships
Introduction: To offer assistance to current internship sites, the Council of Chairs of Training
Councils conducted a survey in 2009 that identified 408 internship sites that are interested in
expanding their numbers of interns or becoming APA-accredited. The survey also found that
167 psychology doctoral programs were willing to offer assistance to them by providing
licensed psychologist faculty to supervise intern work and/or lead group training sessions.
Doctoral program faculty members are also willing to help internship programs complete the
"self-study" evaluation process necessary to apply for APA accreditation.
A CCTC work group has developed a listing of volunteers from around the country, organized
by state, to link potential internship sites with contacts from nearby doctoral or internship
programs who want to work on the expansion initiative at the local level. If you are interested in
volunteering as a possible contact person for programs in your area or need to update your
