Options to choose from:
The New International Debaters Track (IND) – lasts during the WKPDC only. The purpose of this track is to introduce students new to Karl Popper debate to the format and the main rules as well as provide them with a basic knowledge of debate and argumentation concepts. After the IND track, participants and trainers are expected to join the MTT track.
Mixed Team Track (MTT) – starts after the World Karl Popper Debate World Championship. It focuses on instruction of high school students in the format of Karl Popper. It culminates in IDEA KP Mixed Team Tournament. The teams competing are paired together based on their mixed experience with debate and speaking skills and also based on their country of origin.
You will be expected to facilitate the instruction of these teams and prepare them for the final competition.
Coaches and Judges Track (CJT) – starts after the World Karl Popper Debate World Championship. This track aims to help with building capacity in debate communities. It will focus on improving judging, coaching and organizing skills. It will be offered for the graduating students as well as coaches. We are planning to choose 2 trainers.
British Parliamentary Track (BPT) – starts after the World Karl Popper Debate World Championship. The purpose of this track is to help the senior high schools students with the transition from high school to university debating. Students will be instructed on the British Parliamentary Debate Format, i.e. the rules of the format and provide them with a basic knowledge of debate and argumentation concepts.
English as Foreign Language Track (EFL) – starts after the World Karl Popper Debate Championship. The purpose of this track is to facilitate in improving English Language capabilities of students who might have trouble following the curricula in
MTT, BPT or CJT. Students will be instructed on basic public speaking, writing, reading and comprehension skills as well as argumentation in fun and easily understandable way.
