Introducing Freeze Queensland breeders, who may be finding the rapid escalation in service fees in recent times a daunting proposition, can now consider Freeze with confidence. We believe Freeze provides an affordable breeding alternative, without sacrificing quality or pedigree. We would like to give a brief outline of the reasons behind the purchase of the stallion Freeze which may also be of benefit to your breeding program. Our initial inspection of the Freeze yearlings at this year’s Magic Millions alerted us to the sire potential of this stallion. They were all great athletic types, with good legs and bold outlooks. His family is one of the strongest in this country. They run early, are super tough and are competitive at the highest level. We were able to purchase Freeze outright, although the original owners (Vinery, Stratheden and Oxford Studs) insisted that they retain some future breeding interest. Freeze is now settling into life at Springfields in preparation for the upcoming season. Freeze possesses considerable quality as befitting his breeding. He has a tough, bright eye, an exceptionally wide gullet, good rein, long sloping shoulder, a deep girth, strong muscular forearms, short cannons, strong fetlocks and pasterns and dark hard feet with wide heels. The horse has strong flat hind leg with low set hocks, wide high set hips, a long croup and good tail setting, ample genitalia, and is a good hard dark bay colour. His front legs are set perfectly under his shoulder and his back legs are square and wide. The following points also weighed heavily on our decision to acquire Freeze: We were fortunate to view the excellent conformation, soundness and toughness of his progeny. A rare privilege in any stallion selection process The pedigree, family performance, temperament and magnificent conformation of the stallion His exceptional fertility and limited books served to date The stallions speed and his family’s speed. Freeze demonstrated outstanding ability as a young 2yo and went on to be in the money in 5 out of 6 starts, including Listed company and it was only an unfortunate stable accident that prevented him from rising to the heights he so richly deserved. Great sires are quite often lightly raced and not necessarily champion Group 1 horses (e.g. Sir Tristram, Red Ransom and Hussonet) His suitability for siring precocious QTIS stock Compatible with wide variety of pedigrees, including Northern Dancer, Danehill, Nijinsky, and Sir Ivor and especially the Thatch/Thong connection in Nureyev and Fairy King. A rare Star Kingdom male line combined with the incomparable Danzig speed in the female line through Polish Precedent Grass track pedigree The commerciality of the family. Witness the high prices obtained for the stallions siblings in recent times Snowdrift his dam has had five to race for five black type performers Snowdrift has a lovely colt by Encosta De Lago at foot and is in foal to Redoute’s Choice again. She is a refined European mare and is held in the highest regard. The family will remain commercial for years to come Freeze has an unusually wide gullet (10cm+). This large air flow factor is a common trait in successful stallions and champion sprinters. The great Northern Dancer is the yardstick of this characteristic and measured 10.8cm The enclosed partnership guidelines, as its name suggests, will provide like minded enthusiasts a great opportunity to participate with us in producing affordable, top quality thoroughbreds.
