WHAT DO YOU THINK? Museums often have to make difficult decisions about how and what objects should be displayed to visitors. Below are some of the questions that many museums are discussing today. There are no right or wrong answers to these questions. But your opinions are very important and can help museums decide what to do with their objects. 1. Many people today think that objects from archaeological excavations should stay in the country in which they were found except for special exhibitions. What do you think? 2. Some people also think that important objects now in museums which were not from authorized excavations and were taken out of the country many years ago should be returned to the country they came from. What do you think? 3. Many museums obtained human mummies from private collections many years ago. They were often put on display as curiosities. Some people today do no think it is right for museums to display human mummies. What do you think? Does it make a difference to your thinking if they are wrapped or unwrapped? 4. Another possibility is that museums could display more replicas of ancient objects rather than the objects themselves. Do you think museums should display more replicas?
