MUSEUMS CONTAINING OBJECTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD.
It is argued by some people that it is greatly important for areas of display that is
a museum, to showcase its historical oeuvre and relics from its own country
rather than from other foreign countries in order to fully present the attributes of
the objects relating to the country of its origin, such as its culture and history. An
example of this is the Egyptian stone coffins; sarcophagus, designed to reflect the
country’s architecture in which, contains coffins holding corpses buried inside of
them preserved for a burial process that portrays ancient Egyptian culture and
beliefs of the afterlife (National Geographic resources).
I’m a strong believer of the fact that mother countries should be the rightful
owners of their own objects that do not belong the country in which it currently
resides in. Objects should be taken back to their place of origin depending mostly
on how they were obtained in the first placed. Their history holds a greater value
and belongs most importantly to its people, not just the world. Regardless of this
being wrong morally and as it should be, socially. It has proven to be of great
outcome and benefit to a country that possess or has claim to these historical
objects in many ways, that deem exhibiting artifacts from other communities
acceptable, leading to wining of societies favor in the negotiations on this matter,
by choosing to overlook the negative due to the advantages. disregarding the
portraying and educating of the society on tradition and culture which I find to be
one of the main points of museums, that is stripped from rightful people, in ways
such as taking away the experience of having pride in one’s origin or past. Which I
say from personal values, opinions and more of such. Nevertheless, I would like to
list the advantages.
