ATTACHMENTS:
1. The completed application form with a resume listing extracurricular activities (both in
school and community), employment, honors or awards, and leadership opportunities you
have been involved in during high school.
2. A Mayflower essay on the following topic: “Prior to coming to the New World, the
Separatist Pilgrims spend about twelve years in the Netherlands.” Discuss the effects that
their extended exposure to Dutch culture had on their New World settlement at Plymouth. If
you wish you may choose any aspect of their colonial establishment to demonstrate your
conclusion. This essay must be written in letter from one of the Pilgrims, the date is 1630.
The essay must be 750 words or less. Essays will be evaluated for content, organization,
style, and grammar. All entries must be typewritten and sources cited in appropriate
bibliographic style.
3. One letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, business person, peer or family
friend.
4. A copy of your official high school transcript.
5. A copy of your SAT and/or ACT scores.
6. Information on your Mayflower ancestor, if applicable.
The deadline for applications is March 1, 2013. Any applications postmarked after this
date will be ineligible for consideration.
Please mail THREE COPIES of the application, ONE COPY of the essay plus a CD
with a copy of the essay, the letter of recommendation; and TWO COPIES of all other
materials in a 9 x 12 envelope to:
