ABC Order – Write your words in order from A-Z.
Rainbow Words – Write your words in three colors.
Backwards Words – Write your words backwards.
Scrambled Words – Write your words, then write them again with
the letters mixed up.
Pyramid Words – Write the first letter of your word, then write the
first two letters on the next line…continue doing this until
you have the whole word. Ex: d

Words-in-Words – Write your word and then write at least 2 words made
from each{must use at least 3 letters}. Ex:pickle = lick, like
Reversed Words – Write your words in reversed ABC order; from Z-A.
Other-Handed Words – If you are right-handed, write with your left, or
vice versa.
Telephone Words – Translate your words into numbers from a telephone
keypad.
Dollar amount Words – Write the alphabet on a piece of paper.
Beside A, write $1. Beside B. write $2, and so on. Figure up the dollar
amount of each of your spelling words. Ex:dog=$4+$15+$7=$26
ABC Arrange by Letters – Write your spelling words. Beside each, arrange
the letters of each word in alphabetical order.
3 times Each – Write your words 3 times each.
Tongue Twisters – Write short tongue twisters for each spelling word.
Ex: some: Sally saw some seals in the sea.
Synonym/Antonym Words – Your choice, write the synonym or antonym of
each of your spelling words. May use a thesaurus.
Rhyming Words – Write your spelling words. Beside each, write at least 2
words that rhyme with it.
Shopping List – Use at least 10 of your words to write a shopping list.
Silly Sentences – Use all your words in 10 sentences, must be silly.
Words without Vowels –Replace vowels with a line. Ex:cat=c-t
Words without Consonants –Replace consonants with a line. Ex:cat=-aStory Words – Write a short story using all of your words.
X–Words – Using all of your words, write two words having one common letter
so they criss-cross.
Choo-Choo Words – Write the entire list end-to-end as one long word, may
use dashes to separate or different colors. Ex:wishinglaughtears
Animal Print Words – Write words in bubble letters coloring in various prints.
Advertisement – Use 10 of your words to illustrate and write an
advertisement or product. Underline your words.

25. Commercial Words –Write a 30 sec. TV commercial using 15 of your words.
26. Secret Agent Words – Write out the alphabet and number from 1-26, then
convert your words to a secret code. Or invent your own code.
27. Acrostic Poem – Write each word up and down on your paper, one letter to a
line. Find words that begin with each letter. Ex: b=butterfly
28. Superhero Letter – Write a letter to a superhero using 15 of your words.
29. Word Form Wackiness – Add past, present, future tenses or prefix/suffix.
30. Fraction Words – Draw out a table like in example below. Listing number of
vowels & consonants as numerator and total number of letters
as denominator.

31. Break Apart Words – Divide each spelling word into syllables. You may wish
to use a dictionary if you are unsure where a word should be
divided. Ex:spell-ing
32. Spelling Math – Write out the alphabet and number from 1-26. Find the sum
of each word. Find the highest and lowest values.
33. Bookmark Design – Design a pretty bookmark and write your words on it.
34. Picture Words – Fold a piece of paper to have various sections. In each
section draw a picture and write your spelling words.
35. Word Search – Type words into word search program and print it

36. Crossword – Make a crossword puzzle with your words and their definitions.
37. Surround Words – Write your words on graph paper and outline in colors.
38. Ransom Words – Cut letters out of magazines/newspapers.
39. Puzzle Words – Write your words and then cut out in the form of a puzzle.
40. Collage Words – Use magazine pictures to make a collage that shows the
meanings of your spelling words.
41. Etch-a-Word – Write your words and then sketch around it with a pencil.
42. Geometry Words – Write your words in shapes.
43. Area/Perimeter Words – Write words on graph paper, finding area and
perimeter of each word.
44. Flash Cards – Cut paper and write words and definitions.
45. Make up Rap/Song –Make up a rap or song using all of your words.
46. Cursive Words – Write your words in cursive.
47. Dialogue Words –Write a dialogue {conversation} using quotation
marks correctly. Use at least 10 of your spelling words.
48. Comic Strip – Create a comic strip using at least 6 of your spelling
words. Underline your words.
49. Book Cover – Design a book cover using 6 of your spelling words.
Underline your words.
50. Party Invitation – Use at least 6 of your spelling words to write an
invitation to a party. Underline your words.
