DRAWS FOR THIS WEEKEND’S PROFESSIONAL BOWLS ASSOCIATION QUALIFIERS
The New Zealand Professional Bowls Association has continued to grow this year with 141 players
taking to the indoor rinks this weekend in qualifiers to compete in the World Bowls Tour’s Scottish
International Open Singles in November. The five venues include the Paritutu Club in New Plymouth
for the first time.
Intriguing early match ups around the country include Terry Johnson (Manawatu) versus Scott
Roddick (Wellington), and Steve Love (Manawatu) against PBA NZ team member Murray Glassey
(Hawkes Bay) at the Heretaunga Club in Hastings. Love was Glassey’s bogey man in 2013 beating him
three times that season. At the Westpac Bowls Stadium in Dunedin, another NZ PBA team member
Duane White (Dunedin) faces Shayne Sincock (Canterbury), and top contenders Aidan Lusby and
Ross Munro play each other. The pick of the games at the Waverley Club in Invercargill sees Craig
Merrilees pitted against Roger Stevens – they have traded one win each in previous encounters.
