The third part of the MECA application process is an Essay to be written solely by the
applicant. Please save it to Word, then forward it to the SJC Dual Credit Office by the
April 15 deadline along with the other two parts of the MECA Application.
A. This essay should be 2-3 type-written pages, double spacing, 12 point font, the
margins should be set 1 inch all around.
B. Please make sure to include your legal name, the date, and the name of your
high school at the top of the first page.
C. The essay should consist of the following:
1. Why do you want to participate in the MECA program?
2. How do you feel this program will benefit you in achieving your career and
educational goals.
3. Talk about your current responsibilities (school, family, social, etc.) and how this
program will fit into your life.
