Course Objective
To introduce the student to the essentials of managing production and service operations. Student
will apply their expertise for analyzing several operations management decision problems.

Course Description: Considers the productive system of an enterprise whereby inputs of technology, materials, personnel,
and information are transformed into useful goods and/or services. Introduces the types of problems and issues
encountered by the operations manager. Discusses various models and techniques but emphasizes problem formulation
and managerial implications Understand techniques in POM and know how the successful operations manager uses these
techniques. During the semester, numerous handouts will be distributed.
