2ND SUNDAY OF EASTER (DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY) 11th APRIL 2010
Dear Parishioners,
This weekend we celebrate the Feast of Divine Mercy and we are led to discover that
our God is rich in mercy. With Thomas we place our hand in Christ’s wounded side
and we draw renewed strength from these marks of His love and mercy. Like Thomas
may we be led to a deeper faith in the risen Christ and declare Him to be: ‘My Lord
and my God!’ There are special devotions for this Feast Day, commencing at 2.30pm
here in Church. There will also be the availability of the Sacrament of Reconciliation
(Confessions) during the afternoon.
Father Sean and I renew our thanks for your prayerful participation in the Services of
Holy Week and Easter; and our thanks for your generous Easter Offerings.
The next two baptismal preparation evenings will take place on Wednesday 14th April
and Wednesday 21st April, both at 8pm in the Presbytery. Would the parents of our
First Holy Communion children please note that the dates for the next two Meetings
are as follows: Wednesday 28th April and Wednesday 12th May both at 8pm in the
Parish Hall. As mentioned previously a Birmingham Archdiocese Young Adults’Taize
Trip is being organised from 24th July-2nd August 2010.The cost £189.If you are
interested please speak with the Priests or contact Lisette Be’gue’-01675 466 909.

group in March.

Confirmation and their parents and suggest Thursday 10th June at 7pm.Please let us
know if this date is possible.

During the course of Jesus' revelations to Saint Faustina on the Divine Mercy He asked on
numerous occasions that a feast day be dedicated to the Divine Mercy and that this feast be
celebrated on the Sunday after Easter.
Thus, to observe the Feast of Mercy, we should:
1.
Celebrate the Feast on the Sunday after Easter; 11th April 2010
2.
Sincerely repent of all our sins;
3.
Place our complete trust in Jesus;
4.
Go to Confession, preferably before that Sunday;
5.
Receive Holy Communion on the day of the Feast;
6.
Venerate* the Image of The Divine Mercy;
7.
Be merciful to others, through our actions, words, and prayers on their behalf.
*To venerate a sacred image or statue simply means to perform some act or make some gesture of deep religious respect toward it
because of the person whom it represents - in this case, our Most Merciful Saviour
Short Novena to obtain graces through the intersession of Saint Faustina:
Jesus, you gave your servant Saint Faustina
the gift of deep reverence for your
unending Mercy. I ask you if it be
Your holy will, to grant me, through her
prayers, the graces for which I fervently pray….
(mention your need)
because of my sins, I don’t deserve Your mercy,
but I ask you to remember Saint Faustina’s Spirit
lf sacrifice and self-denial, and to be gracious to her faithful
Love of You, by granting the petition which I make to You now, with
child-like trust through her intercession. Amen
Please pray for: Bridie Coffey, Mary Farrell, Kathleen Harris, Teresa Waldron,
Ann McGowan, Laurence Christopher Redmond, Dr Peter Loly and
Dennis Joseph McLaughlin whose anniversaries are at this time.
