Conditions
Volunteers are appointed in accordance with the Netball Victoria Volunteer Management Policy.
This position receives an Honorarium of $2000 as an honorary reward for voluntary services
rendered. Honorariums are reviewed annually by Netball Victoria.
This position holder must undergo screening in accordance with the Netball Victoria Member
Protection prior to appointment.
Environment
Netball Victoria is the peak sporting body for netball in Victoria and is affiliated with Netball

communities through the sport of netball.
Netball Victoria is a not for profit, member based organisation which is governed by a volunteer
Board of Directors.
Primary Purpose of Position
Lead the medical staff and/or support staff to assist players with preparation and recovery at training and match play sessions
leading up to and during the National Championships. Assess and treat injuries that occur during training sessions and at
National Championships. Onward refer players to appropriate health professionals as necessary.

State Team Head Coach
To liaise and provide preparation support to the Head Coach for the State Team Program
and National Championships. To communicate medial decisions and management for
athletes within the State Team Program.
State Team Athletes
Prepare and treat athletes in the State Team Program and at National Championship.
State Team Manager
To liaise and provide support to the Team Manager with the State Team Program as
required.
State Team Assistant Coach
To liaise and provide support to the Assistant Coach with the State Team Program as
required.
State Team Apprentice Coach
To liaise and provide support to the Apprentice Coach with the State Team Program as
required.
State Team Support Staff
Lead and liaise with the Sports Science staff and Masseur regarding requirements
throughout the State Team Program.

Key Responsibilities
Accountabilities
1. Development & Planning
Overview of Tasks
 Liaise with all team officials and High Performance Coordinator regarding player
conditioning prior to and during the National Championships.
 Liaise with the other team officials and players in regards to rostering players for
appointments during the National Championships.
 To liaise with the Masseur, Team Manager and High Performance Coordinator to
ensure all essential equipment is purchased within budget and is available as required.
 Liaise with Head Coach, Team Manager and Sports Science Specialist regarding
tournament meal and snack menu.
 Act as a senior member of the travelling party responsible for all matters pertaining to
the players’ match preparation such as strapping, massage and treatment.
2. Administration
 Adhere to all Netball Victoria policies and procedures regarding the State Team
Program.
 Keep comprehensive records of all treatments of individuals.
 Report major player injuries and subsequent rehabilitation to Head Coach and
Masseur.
 Submit reports as requested by Netball Victoria.
 Provide individual athlete injury report post National Championships to the High
Performance Coordinator which will be forward their relevant club coach.
3. Practical Involvement
 Attend an officials’ induction, any scheduled team professional development sessions
and a post National’s review as required.
 Attend all screening days, squad selections and squad training sessions as required.
 Attend team selections and all team trainings as required.
 Attend the National Championships.
 To provide regular treatment and advice to players as required.
Qualifications

Completed a tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy

Hold a current Netball Victoria Membership

Hold a current full drivers license

Previous association representative team or higher sport physiotherapy experience.

Minimum 3 year’s experience working with sporting teams.

Experience working with groups of athletes within the relevant age group.

Experience in working independently and as an integral part of a team.

A philosophy, ethics and attitude in line with the State Team Program

Understanding of sport culture and organisations, including working with volunteers.

Ability to set priorities, plan work programs, meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
