Job Description
Yulgilbar Station- Farming Overseer Position
Yulgilbar Pastoral Company requires a competent Farming Overseer to join the team.
Whilst the position is predominately Farming skills based, it will be necessary from time to
time to assist with livestock related activities.
The Farming Overseer position broadly encompasses all the day to day farming work
activities that would be expected on a diversified cropping and farming operation on a cattle
breeding, feeding and fattening station.
The Farming Overseer will act as a member of a “team” of permanent, part time and casual
employees, and contractors. In the absence of the General Manager, the Farming Overseer
will be required to implement farming management practices as directed by the General
Manager.
Responsibilities include
Assisting with the overseeing all and any other property operations, including the
security of all the assets on the property.

Planning, implementing and managing occasional projects on the property as directed by
the General Manager.

Working with the General Manager in the development of a financial budget for the
farming operations.

Working with the General Manager in the development of a cropping program for the
farming operations
Liaising with the General Manager and the Livestock overseer effectively re weekly work
program

As the position will be based from the Broadwater Division of the Station ,you will be also
required to have a good understanding of best practice Feedlot management and the
operation of Associated equipment. The position will entail working as a team player ,as well
as working alone on a regular basis, performing what roles are necessary in the day to day
running of the Enterprise.



Good mechanical and welding /fabrication skills are desirable.
Hold a HC Drivers license.
Ability to operate travelling irrigators is necessary.



A good knowledge of conventional and electric fencing is important.
A neat and tidy appearance and overall attitude vital to fit in with the fabric of
the Station community.
Station pride and loyalty is encouraged and expected.

Excellent accommodation in a 3 bedroom partly air conditioned home with
Primary schooling available at Baryulgil. Bus to Grafton
for Secondary school.
Yulgilbar Station is a 33 000 acre property running up to 6000 head of Santa Gertrudis
cattle.(Located at Baryulgil-100km North of Grafton ) and 2500 acres of farming( fodder
cropping including Corn for Silage, Rye and oats for grazing, Lucerne for hay. Soybeans are
cash cropped in a rotational pasture
improvement program currently underway.

























A Modern Plant is operated with the successful applicant required to operate A fleet of John Deere Tractors from 80-200 HP using Green star
Guidance
system shared over the Property
A 8 Metre Excel single disc air seeder and a 4 Metre "Great Plains"
Direct drill are utilized for planting.
Primarily minimum or zero till farming practice
A Hayes 60 foot Spray rig for Spray work
A Caterpillar D4H Bull dozer
450 HP Mitsubishi Tipper and Hyab crane with Grain bin
440 HP Mercedes Benz with Dog Trailer(A "HC "license is required)
Feedlot equipment including A Kuhn 24 cubic metre feedlot
wagon(Broadwater Division)
Haymaking equipment including Welger Round Baler, Kuhn Disc- Bine and
rotary rake
Weed spraying using" Quick sprays"
Slashing and Mulching using 2M&5M slashers and a 7.5 Metre
mulcher
250 acres of irrigation at Yulgilbar using travelling irrigators(soft and
Hard
Hose)
The Station show prime and commercial cattle, exhibit at field days
and
trade shows.
An Annual Production Sale is conducted the first Friday in September.

All stock work is done working with horses.
Cattle must be treated quietly and humanely
A genuine love for
Santa Gertrudis cattle is preferred.
Fence repair and erection as required.
A willingness to perform weekend work on roster when required.
Time in lieu is given for extra ,or out of hours work.
