Chronology:

2003-4: Initiator and Project Manager of the ‘‘Rabita’’ Arts Project for the

Glasgow Muslim Community and Asylum Seekers (ongoing).

2003: Consultant for ‘‘The Making of a Durga’’ - a collaboration between the Scottish Indian Arts Forum and Education Department of the National

Museums of Scotland Education Department- involving the creation of a six foot image of the goddess Durga by two master sculptors from India.

2002-3: Concept Creator and Consultant for ’’The Paradise Garden

Carpet’’ Textile Project for the National Museums of Scotland in collaboration with Glasgow Museums involving 500 participants from Glasgow and

Edinburgh.

2001: Consultant for ’’Brilliant Bengal’’ a project involving five visiting master craftsmen from Bengal as participants in the Edinburgh Dusshera

Festival.

2000: Initiator and administrator of the University of Stirling and the National

Museums of Scotland’s Conference, ‘‘Subcontinental Scatterings’’ examining the art forms produced by the Subcontinental diaspora.

1999-2000: Consultant for the National Museums of Scotland’s

‘‘Iqbalnammeh’’ Project and the exhibition ‘‘From Lahore to

Lesmahagow’’; consultant for the accompanying award winning education programme.

1998: Initiator of the Hindu Dusshera Festival in Edinburgh and subsequent joint coordinator of this now established annual Edinburgh event.

1997-99: Joint initiator of the ‘‘Uncut Cloth Project’’ and member of the steering committee for this major exhibition of the textiles of the

Subcontinent in Paisley Museum and Art Gallery; coordinator of the extensive accompanying Education Programme.

1998: Consultant to Project Ability for the ‘‘Designed to Wear’’ Project in

Glasgow involving Glasgow schools and community groups.

1997-98: Project Manager for the Zannah Stephen Memorial sculpture involving management of the competition to select the artist, negotiating the site planning permission in a world heritage centre and supervising the installation of the sculpture.

1997: Initiator and consultant for the ‘‘Map Shawl’’ Textile Project in

Kelvingrove Museum, Glasgow involving five hundred participants and based on an Royal Indian shawl borrowed from the collection.

1996-98: Initiator and Coordinator of the Ethnic Folk Tales Project for

Central Regional Council culminating in the book ‘‘A World of Family Tales’’ edited by Sue Stewart, illustrated by Jila Peacock and published by the

Scottish Cultural Press.

1995: Tutor to the Falkirk Muslim Women’s Group participating in the Victoria and Albert Museum’s textile Project ‘‘The Moghul Tent’’.

1994-95: Member of the Steering Committee for the Stirling Smith Museum’s

Exhibition ‘‘Transition of Riches’’ and Coordinator for Central Regional

Council’s multicultural Community Arts Programme based around the exhibition.

1990-96: Teacher of English as a second language to minority ethnic adults

Clackmannan College, Falkirk College and Central Regional Council.

1980: Successful completion of Part One of Cambridge University’s language

Tripos in Hindi.

1978: Teacher Fellowship at Clare College, Cambridge, to research an aspect of Moghul painting.
